Meet our Team
The tender age of 17 was when I first began to wrestle with God’s call to ministry. It was that call that led me to college at Texas Christian University, seminary (Austin Presbyterian), and to pastorates in Texas and the North Carolina coast.
In 2000, God called us to the beautiful forest we call Brevard, and it is my honor to serve as Pastor here.
I enjoy hiking, and spending time with my wife, Debbie, and our daughters, Hannah and Hollis, and our dog, Max.
My name is Michael Helman and it is my privilege to be the Director of Music/Organist. I began playing organ in church when I was 16 and have served in churches in Wilmington, DE, Hockessin, DE and Cape Coral, FL before arriving in Western NC. I’m an active composer and arranger of choral, organ and handbell music as well as a clinician/conductor for music festivals and workshops. My interests include travel, reading, outdoor activities, and spending time with family and friends.
I am a native to the area and grew up in Etowah. I had been teaching the toddler class at Brevard Davidson River Preschool for 5 years and was asked to be the director in 2022. When I’m not taking care of my small zoo at home which includes cats, dogs, a chameleon and a bee hive, I also enjoy cooking, traveling, and anything Disney. I also enjoy spending time with my husband, Brian, and two children, Eli and Ava.
Hello- I’m Pat Crosby. I serve as the Bookkeeper for the church. I spent many years working in corporate America, where one often questions how what they do is really meaningful. In this calling, I know for sure. I am blessed to witness each day our congregation steward across many domains of living—helping others, working for the church, and yes, their finances. How blessed I am.
Hi! My name is Tammy Nye and I’m privileged to be the Church Office Manager at B-DRPC. I look forward to serving in the church where I was married, where my daughter was baptized, and where my faith has grown, evolved, and hopefully, matured over the last 25-some-years. My faith walk I describe as a peaceful walk with Jesus. He is my guide, my friend, and my purpose. Each morning is a new chance to try to do things the way He leads me. Not sure if I’ve ever had that one successful day where everything seemed to fall into place, but it is a comfort to know that tomorrow is another day to try again. My prayer is that more and more people in our world come to seek and know God and develop that guiding relationship with Jesus. I believe it truly is the best way to live life. In my free time I enjoy playing the piano, singing, writing, reading, and taking long walks. I look forward to serving at B-DRPC.
