A ministry of loving, growing, sharing, and caring.
We Are an Earth Care Congregation
Our worship and discipleship will celebrate God’s grace and glory in creation. Our education will encourage and support each other in keeping and healing the creation. Our facilities will be managed, maintained, and upgraded to respect and cherish all creation. Our outreach will encourage community involvement and public policy to protect and restore the earth.
Solar Panel Installation
The General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church USA encouraged its congregations to “make a bold witness by aspiring to live carbon neutral lives.” Following that stated objective, in April 2019 Brevard-Davidson River Presbyterian Church, in partnership with Collaborative Solar Inc. and Appalachian State University, installed a solar panel system on the east-facing roof of the education wing of the church. The cost of the installation was defrayed by a rebate from Duke Energy, and the panels will meet about 40% of our energy needs over the next 40 years.
In the words of our General Assembly, “Energy choices more than ever are moral choices. As individuals, families, congregations and church administrative bodies, we must become the change we want to see in our nation.” As an Earth Care congregation, members of our church have demonstrated their willingness to reduce our carbon footprint and become a community leader: B-DRPC is the first church in Transylvania County to install solar panels. We strive to be good stewards of God’s earth!
